The objective of this course is to provide the student with a model process and procedure for the selection of SWAT officers.

 

 

 

CONTENT:

 

  • Desirable and undesirable characteristics, traits and behaviors are examined and discussed.

 

  • SWAT tasks are established, examined and discussed.

 

  • Areas of assessment are examined and discussed.

 

  • Phases of the selection process are examined and discussed.

 

  • Eligibility criteria are established, examined and discussed.

 

  • Supervision and management of the selection process is examined and discussed.

 

  • Selection process personnel and equipment are examined and discussed.

 

  • Assessment tool is established, examined and discussed.

 

  • Selection procedures are established, examined and discussed.

 

  • The "remarkable incident" review of performance is examined and discussed.

 

  • Selection performance guidelines are established, examined and discussed.

 

  • Decision making is examined and discussed.

 

  • Leadership is examined and discussed.

 

 

 

COURSE LENGTH:

 

This course is eight (8) hours.

 

 

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

 

The student is required to successfully complete course work, research project, and final assessment.
